Conservation Easements

Current Use
Approximately 50% of Northfield's land is enrolled in the Agriculture and Managed Forest Use Value Appraisal progam, also known as "Current Use". The Current Use Program allows property to be taxed based on the productive value of land rather than based on the traditional "highest and best" use of the land. To be enrolled, forest land must have an approved forest management plan. Agricultural land must be actively farmed.
